The Free Trade Agreement Negotiations between Turkey and Thailand Has Been Launched

Regarding to the previous visit of Thailand Prime Minister in Turkey in 2013, the action plan concerning Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was signed between Turkey and Thailand. The study leaded to the meeting of a Joint Study Group (JSG) on the topic in Ankara and following by the technical negotiation meeting in Bangkok in May, 2015.

Consequently, Thai Minister of Commerce, H.E. Mrs. Apiradi Tantraporn and Turkish Minister of Economy, H.E. Mr. Nihat Zeybekci announced the official launch of the FTA negotiations on 19 July 2017 in Ankara, Turkey and the first round of the FTA negation between the two countries was held in the same day.

According to the study, both sides will share the benefit of the FTA as their export value might increase by 40% especially in rice, agricultural products, food, motor vehicles and other machinery which are the main export products from Thailand to Turkey
